Nahohai, Randy – Rainbirds and Clouds Water Jar (1997)

This is a creative water jar by Randy Nahohai.  He was known for his innovative Zuni pottery.  This jar is coil-built and VERY thin-walled.  It has a high shoulder and turned out rim. The jar is painted with black and orange clay slips that each contain a bit of mica. The jar has large rainbirds, clouds, and rain designs.  Near the base are more clouds and rainbirds.  It is a modernist style for a very traditional Zuni design. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “R. Nahohai ’97”.
