Antique Italian Hand Painted Enamel Gold Gilt 800 Silver Powder Compact with Mirror

Presenting an exquisite example of Art Nouveau artistry. This extraordinarily detailed hand enameled compact features a neoclassical love scene of a gentleman presenting his love with the bluebird of happiness in a garden setting. The scene is bordered by an ornate engraved silver design and green enameling representing Malachite in the scalloped design compact. An intricate floral design is hand engraved on the bottom of the silver compact and the interior is gilded in a gold wash finish. The mirror is in flawless condition and the compact still has its original powder screen insert. Stamped 800 and the maker’s mark hallmark, the entire piece. The clasp is both tight and secure and the hinge is straight and fully functioning. Measuring 3.21 inches (81.66mm) by 3.87 inches (98.3mm) and weighs 138.8 grams. This early 1900’s antique is in near mint condition and has retained its rich natural patina throughout the piece.
